The bustling beach at the mouth of the Platte River is always busy because the Platte River kayakers and canoers end their trip here. Early birds will have the best chance at nabbing a coveted parking spot. The Platte River empties into Lake Michigan here, and there is swimming in both the Platte River and Lake Michigan. It is a fun experience to swim where the warm river water meets the cooler lake water. The Lake Township Park is also located here, with barbecue grills available.
